Medication administration (DODD)

Medication administration (for DODD)- Over the course of this program students will learn how to safely and effectively administer medication to the DD population. Learning the s/s of safe medication is essential as most of these clients are unable to advocate for themselves. Medication administration 1,2,3 is offered. Students will learn how to read Medication administration records (MARS) and perform the 13 HRA’s (vital signs, ostomy care, specimen collection, catheter care etc.). In-class hands-on training and return demonstrations are also included. At the conclusion of each class a comprehensive test will be given and upon passing a certificate will be given in accordance with the standards of the state of Ohio.

Phlebotomy Technician

Over the course of this program students will learn how to work with patients in a Hospital, Lab, nursing home or clinic setting. You will learn how to draw, handle and store bodily fluids, while understanding the importance of infection control and prevention. Students will be able to demonstrate skills such as venipuncture, urinalysis, and other bodily fluid processing. Labs will offer hands on training to prepare students for the skills required to receive the national phlebotomy technician certification.

CPR/BLS Initial and Renewal

Instructors will prepare students on the s/s of cardiac arrest and how to perform CPR to maximize survival rates. In this class, students will learn how to perform high quality CPR/BLS, activate the emergency response system and an automated external defibrillator or AED. This course is licensed under the American Heart Association (AHA) and can be used almost anywhere. Upon completion of this course, a comprehensive exam will be given, and an electronic card will be issued via email.

Home Health Aid

In this course students will learn how to provide non-medical care to clients which may include home management, light housekeeping, assistance with personal care, meal preparation, ambulation, positioning, transfers and more. Effective communication and a caring attitude are essential in this role. Students will learn how to effectively engage with clients as well as family members as this role normally takes place in the client’s homes and or small group homes. Hands-on skills training and return demonstrations are part of this class.
